KONOPIŠTĚ CASTLE
Konopiště is a lovely hunting chateau located about 45 km south-east of Prague. It was founded in the 13th century and it has become famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, the successor to the Austro- Hungarian throne, whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 triggered World War I. Visitors can observe the residential rooms of Franz Ferdinand, a large collection of antlers, or an armoury with medieval weapons. Guided, entrance fee included.
KARLŠTEJN CASTLE
During your visit to Prague you should not miss the large Gothic castle founded in the 14th century by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. Karlštejn served as a place for safekeeping the Empire coronation jewels, holy relics and other royal treasures. Located about 35 km southwest of Prague in the Karlštejn village, it is one of the most famous and heavily visited castles in the Czech Republic. Guided, entrance fee included.
KARLOVY VARY (CARLSBAD)
Our minibus will take you through the picturesque West Bohemian countryside to the city of Karlovy Vary. This world-famous spa has been known for its 12 medicinal mineral springs and you will have the chance to taste them. The best known is the "Vřídlo" ("Geyser"), springing its curative water to a height of 12 m. In Karlovy Vary you can also find historical and modern colonnades and you can admire locally manufactured Moser glass and Thun porcelain. We recommend tasting delicious local wafers and traditional "Becherovka" liqueur made of herbs. The city is also known for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. KUTNÁ HORA
Kutná Hora, situated about 65 km out of Prague, ows its origin to the silver mines, the existence of which can be traced back to the first part of the 13th century. It was next to Prague the most important town in Bohemia, having become favourite temporary residence of several Czech kings and also a mint for the "Prague Penny" ("Groš"). Kutná Hora was declared a world heritage, and since 1995 has been protected by UNESCO. Our guide will show you the most important buildings and places - the St. Barbora's Cathedral, the Ossuary (Bone House), the Italian Court. Guide service and entrance fees included.
KONOPIŠTĚ AND KARLŠTEJN
During this all-day trip you will visit two unique gems among the castles in the Czech Republic, both lying in the vicinity of Prague. First we will visit the Konopiště Castle, situated some 45 km out of Prague. The castle was founded in the 13th century and it is well renowned for its fascinating collection of antique weaponry and furniture. After the tour we will continue westwards to the historical Karlštejn Castle. Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, had this gothic monument built as a depository for the Empire crown jewels and relics of saints. Guide service, lunch and entrance fees included.
TEREZÍN
Terezin was founded at the end of the 18th century by Emperor Joseph II, originally as an ingenious system of military fortresses for the protection of the Bohemian Kingdom. During World War II, in 1940, the Gestapo took control of Terezin, and the town was turned into a Jewish ghetto. The Nazis tried to make it look from the outside as a model Jewish settlement, but in reality it was a concentration camp. Guide service and entrance fees included.
ČESKÝ KRUMLOV
We would like to invite you to a fairy tale-ish town Český Krumlov (situated cca 170 km from Prague), which has been part of the UNESCO cultural and natural heritage since 1992. The town is situated in Southern Bohemia in the romantic area of ponds and beautiful countryside along the river Vltava. In the historical centre there are 300 historical houses and the second largest castle in the Czech Republic with magnificent baroque gardens. There you will see a unique theatre with rotating auditorium. The castle used to be a seat of important and famous noble families - Rosenbergs, Eggenbergs and Schwarzenbergs. The oldest baroque theatre in the world is part of the castle as well. The historical city centre preserved its medieval atmosphere and picturesque narrow streets. You will find there lovely little shops with hand made souvenirs. The price includes pick up at your hotel, quide, a visit with a local quide to the interior of the castle (you will see there historical furniture, tapestries, weapons, paintings and the famous golden carriage) and lunch in a local tavern.
